Description

Riverview Cottage is one of Mystic's finest waterfront locations.  The house, boathouse, and barn are perched directly on the Mystic River.  It includes 1.25 acres of quiet land with mature trees and is completely air conditioned.  It is an ideal location for families who want a quiet refuge of kayaking and canoeing in close proximity to Mystic Seaport Museum, Mystic Aquarium, historic downtown Mystic, and the neighboring beaches of Rhode Island and the Mystic area. Riverview Cottage has a long, waterfront porch furnished with comfortable wicker and rockers as well as an even larger balcony above and a terrace adjoining the lower porch. The house is situated on a large tidal cove populated by osprey, herons, egrets, swans and ducks.  A fragrant border of honeysuckle runs along the waterfront sometimes attracting hummingbirds when in bloom. It includes a full kitichen, well-stocked library and a comfortable studio-apartment over the detached garage. The property includes a large boathouse the owners use for storage.

Beyond Wonderful

First time we had all the family together in one place and we all loved this charming home and all the offerings. We enjoyed reading in the library, sitting by the Fireplace for family stories and cooking together. The home was perfect!

Perfect house for a group

We absolutely loved staying here. We had a total of 6 couples and everyone had their own comfy bedroom. The views are amazing from the balcony...just cant be beat. We enjoyed burning logs on the indoor fireplace as well! The kitchen is small but fully stocked with all the pots and pans needed to make our meals. The double oven was key and loved that it heated up so quickly. My only caution would be to make sure to bring shampoo, conditioner and soap. None of the bathrooms had that and we didn\'t know to bring it. Definitely appreciated that they supplied all of the towels and sheets though. That made packing so much easier.

Perfect location, plenty of room

Our recent weekend stay at this beautiful house was a family bachelorette weekend, with everyone from our 78 year young matriarch to our 28 year old bride-to-be. We had a fun night in, with a chef prepared dinner, and games, music, and dancing. (The kitchen is a little small, so it\'s best that there\'s only one chef at a time.) But the dining room, foyer, and living room were plenty big enough for our group of 9. The bedrooms were simple, spacious, and very nice, (some with great views). All had comfy beds/clean bedding. The bathrooms were a little run-down, but very clean and spacious enough. The third floor bedroom suite was gorgeous! A great bonus is the mini suite over the garage, just a few steps from the main house. The location of the house was really the best feature -- about 7-8 minutes from the downtown Mystic area, with plenty of restaurants and shops. And in the other direction was Foxwoods, only a 10 minute drive. We took Ubers everywhere and loved the convenience. When you wake up in the morning, the view of the river from the house is spectacular! We didn\'t sit outside much because the porch furniture wasn\'t out, but we highly recommend it!
