Weddings, Meetings & Parties
Meeting and function rooms at Vermont’s Putney Inn radiate an aura of charm. We are event professionals and work easily with groups as small as a handful and as large as several hundred.

The Putney Inn offers incredible ease of access, just north of Springfield, Massachusetts and only 7 miles north of Brattleboro, Vermont. The Inn has been satisfying business groups and delighting party-goers for decades.

Our grounds are expansive with a meadow situated on a plateau above the Connecticut River. Through the trees, New Hampshire’s mountain line sets the back drop as it winds along the river valley.

Many of our patrons to The Putney Inn have taken the time to let us know how they feel:

“The food was great and service superb, but it was the incomparable warmth that made the reception so perfect.”

“I have held meetings around the country. . . . I have never been so satisfied.”

Southern Vermont Activities & Attractions

Putney’s personality radiates the warmth and easy comfort of a village of neighbors. We honor and value the simple richness of our agricultural land, our farming neighbors and our artists and crafters. One often hears the comment that “Putney is still living the 60’s.”

The center of Putney features interesting and clever shops, and the infamous original Basketville. You can shop amongst our merchants, artists and farms, or you can easily venture to the surrounding environs.

A formalized Putney Artisan and Craft Tour occurs twice a year, though studio browsing is a daily occurrence. We are home to the international puppetry of Sand Glass Theater. The Yellow Barn Music Festival provides enchanting opportunity for extraordinary chamber concerts in the most unique of accessible and intimate settings. Putney Village Arts offers painting workshops mentored by world famous artists. And this is but a hint of our depth as a community.

Our farms ship one tenth of the apples exported from Vermont. Come to pick apples or berries, milk a cow, watch the boiling of maple syrup or boutique cheese making, ride a horse. Fly fishing? We’ve got your guide for that, too. We have the trails for hiking, biking, skiing and snow shoeing. We can direct you to canoeing, kayaking, swimming in streams or even ice fishing. (And yes, shopping too.!!)

From The Putney Inn, it is easy to get where ever you hoped to go, and, to do whatever you dream of doing.
Must Do

Depending on you interests and the season, here are a few suggestions of “the glorious”, ” the unique”, and some of the just “simply pleasant” to get you started.

Brattleboro Museum of Art. Downtown Brattleboro.
Putney Mountain Hike. With little effort you can experience 360-degree vistas of area mountain tops.
Connecticut River Majesty. An easy stroll to gorgeous views of this pastoral border between Vermont and New Hampshire.
Ease of Being Entertained. Yellow Barn Music Festival, Sand Glass Theater, Actors Theater, Vermont Jazz Center. Weston Play House.
Weston Priory. Services sung in chant by the Priory monks.
Artists Studios, Petting Farms, Agri-tourism Farms. This is the community for it.
Route 30 Scenic River Valley Drive. Photography at one of NE’s largest covered bridges, followed by the Newfane Country Store, noted for its abundance of hand made quilts for sale, not to mention Newfane’s breath taking center green.
Ride a Chair Lift to the Top of the World. And for the brave of heart, fly down on the Alpine Slide.
Bellows Falls, ancient cave drawings, and ride the steam train, The Green Mountain Flyer.
Clark Art Institute, with it’s largest collection of Renoir under one roof and Mass MOCA, museum of modern art, extremes on the art continuum.
Hildene, Manchester. Robert Todd Lincoln’s summer home. Abe probably summered there, too.

Free continental breakfast was nice.

The value for the cost was exceptional.

The room and tub could have been cleaner, but it was acceptable. Build up of dirt/dust on floor lamp base.
