Description

The Hall:
At the back of the bow-fronted hall the staircase, the principal glory of the house, rises gently to the top storey, with its heavy handrail swooping voluptuously at each landing.

The Drawing Room:
On the left, the Drawing Room, with its tall Kilkenny marble chimneypiece, is panelled and painted in a soft green, and decorated with prints and old porcelain. There are comfortable chairs and sofas, cushioned window seats in the deep embrasures, and splendid views over the tree-studded park.

The Dining Room:
Across the hall is the dining room, panelled and painted a rich deep, dark blue. The wide, unvarnished floor boards are covered with rugs and there is a simple, early chimneypiece of dark grey slate. The furniture is 17th century oak and 18th century mahogany, and the table laid with antique silver, while the walls are hung with gilt-framed family portraits and hatchments, and with blue and white Chinese porcelain.
