Description

Buckwood Log Lodge is Located in the Land of the Waterfalls halfway between Franklin and Highlands, North Carolina, Buckwood offers a relaxing mountain vacation setting.

Buckwood Log Lodge is a rustic two story log home located in the mountains of Western North Carolina overlooking Buck Creek. Sleeping accommodations are available for six people -- one queen bed and four twin beds with an additional queen sleeper sofa. Pillows and blankets are provided with guests providing their own linens and towels.  We do not permit pets at Buckwood.

Buckwood is equipped with a ceramic-top stove, refrigerator with icemaker, microwave oven, and outside barbeque grill. The home is heated by a Vermont Castings wood burning stove in the living area.  Firewood for this stove is provided and quarter split. We also have an ax available if you want to split wood!

A variety of restaurants are within an easy drive from Buckwood -- Dillard House in Dillard, GA; Jarrett House in Dillsboro, NC; and Fat Buddy's, Willy's, Caffe REL and Fortune House in Franklin to name a few.  There are also local trout farms where you can catch your dinner and bring it back to Buckwood to grill.

Family activities abound in the mountains. Experience the Cherokee Indian Reservation including the old village and the outdoor play, "Unto These Hills"!  Whitewater rafting thrills children and adults alike. Gem mining is a relaxing way to spend an afternoon -- one of our guests returned home with a 74 carat sapphire. Ski Cataloochee,  snow tube on Scaly Mountain and shop in the antique malls. Hike our trails or just take it easy in a rocker on the front porch at Buckwood.
