Description

The Inn Cottage is located just down the driveway from the inn. This 'rustic' cottage is rented by the week. It is ideal for a very 'close to the sea' experience while being just a few minutes stroll from the inn's gourmet evening dinners. The 'Inn Cottage' is located on the Northumberland Strait just down the driveway to the sea from the Amherst Shore Country Inn itself. It is right by the sea and is rented by the week during the late spring summer and autumn seasons. Usually this is from the middle of May until the 10th or so of October. It is ideal for experiencing life by the sea while at the same time having the option to walk up the driveway for a homemade four-course gourmet dinner, served by reservation only at 7:30 at the inn. This photo is taken in the living area. It is taken looking out at the sea, showing the location of the dining table and chesterfield. The tide is a long way out in this photo. The 'sand flats' as they are called locally, are bars of sand that have areas of seawater between them. As the tide comes in, the water will slowly rise over these bars covering all of them by mid-tide. There will be enough water for swimming for a three or so hour period surrounding high tide. The water temperature is usually in the low 70 degrees Fahrenheit during July and August. The warm water temperature begins with the sun heating the 'sand flats'. This heat is then transferred to the water as the tide rises. This photo shows the other side of the living area. As can be seen the cottage might be best described as rustic. There is a great old-fashioned stove if one desires a wood fire on a chilly evening or day. If not at the left of the photo a part of the propane heater is in view. It is thermostat controlled and supplies enough heat to keep the living area as 'toasty' as desired. Of the two doors, the one on the left leads to a small spare room. The one on the right leads to a very small bedroom with a double bed. This is one of the two bedrooms. It has a queen bed The mattresses in the two bedrooms are firm. quite unusual for a rustic cottage. The kitchen area contains a refrigerator and propane stove. The counter area and cupboards are shown in the picture above. The bathroom has a small Jaccuzzi tub and a seperate shower. A washer and dryer are also in the bathroom.
