Description

In Inverness-shire, Glen Cottage is a charmingly redesigned, very old Highland Cottage with 3 feet thick stone walls, which stands, detached, just 100 yards from the River Cannich (fishing available) on the very edge of the small village of Cannich (pub, hotel, shop) gateway to the stupendously lovely Glen Affric - countryside so reminiscent of The Canadian Rockies that it was the background for the filming of 'The Last of the Mohicans' many years ago. 12 miles west of Drumnadrochit (Monster Museum) on Loch Ness, and 17 miles south-west of Beauly, it is in a marvellous position for walking or driving in five truly romantic 'Highland' Glens where rushing streams watering the remains of the old Caledonian pine/birch woods are overlooked by a string of Munros; and/or venturing further afield, for day-visits exploring the north-west coast around Ullapool and Lochinver. Well-equipped, cosy and comfortable - with some exposed original stone walls, wood panelling and a roaring multi-fuel stove - this is a cottage of character in which to relax and reminisce after a wonderful day in the clear open air.
