Description

Villa Lysis is located on the border of a charming hamlet perched on a hill top just a few miles west of Florence.

The villa was built in the twelfth century as a fortified lombard farm to guard the fertile Arno Valley. During the 16th century a chapel was added and the building was transformed into a residential villa. The architecture has been continually renovated and transformed throughout the centuries. During the 19th and 20th centuries the villa was owned by a local upper class family. After WWII the last members of the family abandoned the building and it fell into very poor conditions.

The villa has been furnished, equipped and decorated respecting authentic aesthetics and functional considerations. The furnishings and decorations are a combination of fine antiques and modern, high quality sofas, chairs, and beds. The warm and cosy interior of the villa gives life to the feel of Tuscany, while maintaining a unique pleasing atmospheren a rare combination of traits to find among the rental options of this countryside.

In 1989 the property passed into the hands of the present owner who embarked on an immense renovation which respected the authenticity of the space without neglecting any of the modern comforts. In the process of the renovation the original Tuscan style framework, frescos, wooden beamed ceilings, stone walls, brick vault, and cotto floors were all preserved.
