Description

The Fontanaro estate contains a beautifully restored two story stone farmhouse with two separate luxury villas. Located in Umbria,"the green heart of Italy" on the border of Tuscany, "the property is set on 40 acres with 2.000 olive trees and a small vineyard of old Sangiovese's grapes. The view lends itself to rolling green hills facing breathtaking sunsets and sunrise like a Perugino’s painting.

The farm house, built in 1893, is beautifully restored with modern comforts. It is surrounded by a large grass lawn with lemon trees, an extensive collection of old english roses, a great variety of many flowers and a vegetable garden. There is a bread oven, barbecue and a large private Infinity swimming pool with high-performance salt chlorinator (14 x 6m- 46 x 19,6ft ) with a maxi Jacuzzi.

The two cozy villas, named Frantoio and Leccino, are adjacent to the main house. Both have their own private patio and garden. Each villa is fully furnished and decorated with tasteful Umbrian touches, is approximately 60 sq mt (540 sq. ft.) and has a large living room with SKY satellite TV and WI-FI access, a well equipped kitchen corner and fireplace, plus a large bedroom with king-size bed and a comfortable, modern bathroom with shower. Linens, pool towels, hair dryer, kettle, cooking pots and pans, dish washer, microwave oven, CD player, washing machine, cellular phone, and final cleaning are all furnished to render your vacation complete. Pets are permitted on request.

There are few places where you can find serenity, explore medieval hill towns, Etruscan art, and historic cities, and enjoy great food and extraordinarily welcoming hosts. Fontanaro offers all that and much more. When in season, guests may take advantage of free produce (fruit, tomatoes, greens) from the vegetable garden.

All guests are personally welcomed by the owners and will receive personal attention and care during their stay. Everything possible will be done to assure an unforgettable holiday.

A library of English language books is provided in each villa. You can browse the selection of art books, guides, maps, brochures and tourist information about the wonderful places to visit in the area.

The estate is located 1 km from the walled village of Paciano, a perfectly restored 13th century medieval village located in a peaceful and scenic location. There is a view of Lake Trasimeno and the lights of Chiusi, Montepulciano and Cortona in the distance.

The town is constructed on the peak of a hill 400 meters above sea level. In 1992, the European Community named Paciano "un villaggio ideale". It is known as one of the top ten villages in Italy for its idyllic setting and quality of life. The restaurants of the area serve typical cuisine representative of the rich Umbrian and Tuscan enogastronomic culture and tradition.

Less than a one hour drive from Fontanaro, you can explore and enjoy Assisi, Perugia, Siena, Deruta, Montalcino, Montepulciano, Orvieto, Pienza, Cortona, Montefalco, Chiusi and a host of Etruscan architectural gems in Umbria and Tuscany.

From Chiusi, a one hour train trip brings you to the center of Rome or Florence. Trains leave in the morning and return in the evening providing a convenient way to visit these splendid cities without having to navigate the narrow streets and heavy traffic by car.
