Description

Our 2 bedroom house is in the heart of the medieval quarters of Viterbo in the province of Lazio, Italy, touching on Tuscany, Umbria and the Mediterranean Sea. The house has been completely renovated to the highest quality and standards by a professional architect and restoration expert. Comprising of two bedrooms, two bathrooms and an open plan sitting/dining and kitchen area, the house is suitable for four people.

Viterbo is 80 kilometres North of Rome. To the North is Lake Bolsena and to the South is Lake Vico and the wooded hills of of Mount Cimini with lovely picnic areas. Both lakes are suitable for swimming.

Via San Pellegrino is the main artery through the medieval quarter, with towers, arches and external staircases lining the narrow streets that run between little piazzas decorated with fountains. This area is almost exclusively occupied by antique dealers and artisan craftsmen. Our house in Via Delle Caioli is directly off Via San Pellegrino.

The train to Rome, which leaves every hour, is only 10 minutes walking distance from the house.

The walled medieval historical centre of Viterbo is one of the most perfectly preserved walled medieval cities in Europe with strong connections to the Papacy, Freidrick Barbarossa, the Medicci Family and all the feudal Lords you could wish to investigate.

The train to Rome has an upper storey with large viewing windows where there are fantastic views of the countryside Lazio, which is very similar to it's neighbour, Tuscany. The train takes 90 minutes (approximately) and takes you right in to the centre of Rome. You can visit the Vatican, the Pantheon, the Trevi fountain, the Colosseum and Piazza Navona.

The interesting towns of Montefiascone, Marta, Tuscania and Tarquinia are all within a 30 minute drive.
