Description

La Casa del Sol is located in the beautiful valley of Tepoztlan, surrounded by stunning mountains and exuberant vegetation that change all year round in a warm and benign weather. Its terraced garden and multi-leveled architecture offer several views of the gorgeous landscape giving you the opportunity to relax in a quiet and peaceful environment.

It is only ten minutes away from both Tepoztlan and Amatlán where you can visit traditional markets or archeological sites. There are also nice traditional and international restaurants and quaint local boutiques. Since the area is well known for its mystical energies (both towns have recently been classified as 'magical' villages of Mexico) there are plenty SPAs, nature retreats and traditional Mexican saunas (-temazcales-) in the area.

The property is divided in four separated units.

We rent only the main complex (family members live in other two units, and the fourth is the custodians house). With two queen size bedrooms and one room with one king size bed and one single bed, each with it own bathroom (shower).

On special arrangements two more rooms and space (such as the yoga room) can be rented.

The yoga room can obviously accommodate a good number of people coming with their own sleeping-bag and mattress.

The main house also has a nice living room with a chimney and a fully equipped kitchen. The rooms are equipped with comfortable and elegant Mexican furniture and decorated with some mural paintings by a local artist. (It also has a library with books and DVDs, sky tv and a selection of table games).

Nevertheless you will spend most of your time outside, sitting under the pergola, relaxing in a hammock, playing table tennis, floating on a comfortable air-mattress, lying in the sun near the heated swimming pool, or in one of the several private and romantic spaces that the garden has to offer.

Our ecological house, with the swimming pool warmed with solar energy and all the water rain collected, is frequently visited by Mexico city artists and intellectuals because of the tranquility of its surroundings and the beauty of its views (sunsets are seen directly from the house). The mountains nearby offered splendid walks; offer a varied and mystique landscapes.

We have also in the Casa del Sol a gorgeous yoga room for 20 persons (maybe also used seminars, workshops, etc) and a little but very nice and fresh fitness place. Please note that, both yoga room and fitness place, need special arrangement for its use.

great time had by all

We rented this house for 10 days near the end of March. Their were 7 of us and a good time was had by all. The house was colonial style with lots of art on the walls and around the grounds , nice decor, windows , great views and a few different spots to sit or eat in the garden. One bedroom with its own bathroom was on the ground floor off to the side which was very nice for the inlaws. The top bedroom had its own balcony with a nice place to sit and read or enjoy the views. We hired the cook and she was wonderful. Besides being very plesent it seems like she can make anything and was able to make all our favorites. We ate like kings and queens and it was enjoyable for all of us to be able to eat together. The caretaker of the house was very hospitable as well. He took us in to town and to some other places when we wanted and did most of the shopping for us. I would say that this vacation was one of the best family vacations that we have had. Enough activities for those that wanted and a beautiful place for some R and R. The grandparents stayed at the house most of the time which they really enjoyed and the rest of us explored the town , hiked the pyamid , went into Cuernavaca etc. The house is outside of the Pueblo a bit which had some plusses and drawbacks. It was very quiet, we could see lots of stars and some beautiful sunsets. The road going to the houses in this area was preaty bad, not paved for the last mile or so and lots of pot holes--but I bet this is what helps keep it quiet. It was to far to walk into town but the taxis were not to much. Also we did find a few scorpians in the house while we were there and got in the habit of checking our rooms each night.

quisiera volver

The perfect Tepoztlan getaway

We went with a group of 8 and had a fantastic time. The house has a funky and eclectic decor, and there are lots of great spaces to hang out, eat, drink and play games. The place is close to Tepoztlan, but not too close (about 8-10 minutes by car) so the nights are peaceful. The caretakers were great: they cooked for us, manned the grill and cleaned up everything. They were friendly, prompt and effective and prepared great meals. Highly recommended.
