Tantalus Villa, is a luxurious beachfront property along the West Coast of Barbados. The property consists of 2 separate flats, one on the beach level, and an upper flat comprised of two separate levels along with a cottage and covered parking for five vehicles. The Upper Villa is a five-bedroom, six-bathroom, holiday residence with large outdoor living/dining spaces overlooking a beautiful Roman style pool and the Caribbean Sea. The finishes in the villa are of a high standard with coral shell-stone flooring throughout the main rooms and passageways, and tile floors in the top-floor bedrooms. The master bedroom is very large with beautiful pickled pine ceilings and has a full-width private balcony overlooking the sea with spectacular views. A king-sized bed is positioned in the middle of the room looking out over the Caribbean Sea and you can spend your time watching the world go by as the waves roll in and the cruise ships enter and exit the Bridgetown harbour. There is a spacious walk-in closet, oversize master bathroom with dual vanities, a shower and a classic oval bathtub. Four other bedrooms have queen-size beds and separate bathrooms. All bedrooms are air-conditioned or the windows can be opened up to the cool Caribbean breezes that flow through the house during the winter season.
 
The main level of this two-storey Villa has the formal entranceway and foyer at the top of an elegant staircase. There is a cozy reception off the kitchen that leads to a large wrap around balcony with plenty of space for relaxed seating, sun lounging and dining. The balcony also has several sun-loungers and a hammock next to an eight-man hydrotherapy whirlpool spa. The kitchen is very large and is set up for entertaining with beautifully crafted cabinetry featuring white pencil lattice doors and cultured marble countertops. There are the usual compliment of major appliances and a large array of service and cooking items that will satisfy any gourmet cook’s needs. The kitchen is ideal for entertaining and is a focal point of this beautiful dwelling. As you move through the kitchen towards the beachfront, you walk out onto the main balcony to experience Caribbean outdoor living at its finest. Also on the main level, there is are two bedrooms with queen-sized beds plus you plus a media room and the service/laundry area.
 
At the foot of the main entrance staircase, is a large rectangular pool with Roman steps at one end. The pool is fully mosaic tiled in a dark cobalt blue color that keeps it exceptionally warm throughout the year. The grounds are well developed with mature trees and shrubbery and there are over a dozen coconut and other palms along the beachfront for shade. For privacy, there are separate beach access gates for the upper and beach level flats, each with their own outdoor shower and lounging/seating areas. Brighton Beach itself, is a wide, calm beach ideally suited for all kinds of activity. The swimming and snorkelling is very good and you can jog or walk on uninterrupted on the sand for well over a kilometer in each direction. The beach does not suffer from erosion and, in fact, has continued to grow substantially over time. This trend is set to continue for the foreseeable future.
The location is excellent for access to downtown or the West Coast, Warrens and the ABC Highway. Brighton Beach Road is just off the Spring Garden Highway and enjoys good cooling breezes as it is not in the shadow of the more elevated lands along the west coast. An ideal family residence with good security making for a fantastic holiday rental villa.

Fabulous location, fabulous hosts, fabulous week.


My familys weeklong stay at Tantalus was wonderful. From initial communication all the way through departure, JP and Heather were 100% communicative and accommodating, taking extra steps to help set us up for a successful week with our toddler son. The house itself is gorgeous and the views divine. A fully equipped kitchen and house layout left us feeling at home. The terrace made for perfect long and lazy afternoons and relaxed evenings. The houses beachfront location is divine. The beach itself is wonderfully peaceful. There are seaside food and drinks to be had at restaurants in walking distance in either direction. I should mention too here that Shelley, on JP and Heathers staff, makes a wonderful fish curry if you arrange with her ahead of time. I highly recommend JP and Heathers home and would return in a heartbeat.
