About Oklahoma Holiday Rentals

Vacation Rentals in Oklahoma

Oklahoma, the twentieth-largest state in the US, is a lively destination for tourists. Bordered by Arkansas on the east, New Mexico on the west, Kansas on the north, Texas on the south, Missouri on the northeast and Colorado on the northwest, it has a unique ambience.  With a humid subtropical climate, prairies, mountain ranges and extensive forests, it creates a very soothing atmosphere for those who are all torn up.  Informally famous as "The Sooner State", it has many things to entice tourists—gardens, galleries, modern museums and many other attractions. For the accommodation of tourists, there are various types of vacation home rentals in Oklahoma—villa, cottage, condo, cabins, chalets and apartments.

Why Visit Oklahoma?

Oklahoma is the right destination for tourists to kick back and relax. The natural wonders comprising hundreds of beautiful lakes, tranquil rivers, colossal hills and miles and miles of stretches of prairies make this touristy destination no less than a paradise.

Things to Visit in Oklahoma

Oklahoma boasts many world-famous attractions that have made tourists go gaga over them. The most distinguished ones include the following:

Myriad Botanical Gardens: This is a large garden that covers 15 acres of land. It has many resources for tourists—a small lake, a large lawn, walking paths, a playground, a visitor center, off-leash dog park, ornamental gardens, a children's garden and Crystal Bridge Conservatory.  Here, tourists can see the plants of two climates—the Tropical Dry Zone and the Tropical Wet Zone. The amazing thing about it is that it has over 750 species of plants.

Marland Estate Mansion: This is a palatial home that dates back to 1928. It has 55 rooms, including a boathouse, artist studio and expansive grounds with a swimming pool. There are two noted museums inside it—the MarlandOilMuseum and the Bryant Baker Gallery. Here, tourists can gain information related to old facts and artifacts.

Oklahoma City Zoo: This is a very old zoo that is known to have been set up more than a century ago. It accommodates 500 species of animals, including those of both the grand garden landscape and the endangered. Educational sessions and demonstrations are held here from time to time to impart knowledge to tourists about these wild animals and their characteristics. Fun things to do here are enjoying a train ride, boating on the lake and going near the stingray touch tank.

PhilbrookMuseum of Art: This is a museum, built in an Italian Renaissance-style that covers 23 acres of land. It has collections of artifacts from different continents—Europe, Asia and Africa. While visiting this museum, tourists are advised to be careful about the cats and the bees that cause pollination and produce honey.

Oklahoma Aquarium: This is one of the most famous attractions, not only in the state, but the world over. The amazing thing about it is that it has the largest collection of bullhead sharks in the world.  Tourists can watch them gliding through the walk-through glass tunnel. In addition, other interesting exhibits include Polynesian Reef, Eco Zone, Sea Turtle Island and Extreme Fishes.

Great Salt Plains Lake: This Lake has high red bluffs and a sandy beach. What makes this special is that hour-glass shaped selenite crystals are found here. In addition, it has a barren landscape, made up of salt left over from an ocean that covered this state during prehistoric times.

CantonLake: This Lake has five recreational areas, but only Sandy Cove Recreation Area has a beach. It is a perfect place for those who are hunters, fishermen, boaters and picnickers. In addition, sunbathers and swimmers can also enjoy its beaches.
